ANALISING AUSTIN SYNDROME:

See CHERISH's BLOG for more details (and understanding).

After i read all this and remember the frightening times we once lived in, all that i think is how those times have stopped, but the black men have not.
Those were thrilling times. Especially this case of Austin. (I see that i have made him sound like some kind of reoccuring disease. But if that was really what he was Austin was only the first.)

From Cherish's post you can see that when something this traumatic 'happened' to Lisa, we ran out of cracks, holes and hiding places to discover what had 'happened' to Lisa now.
These are the kinds of things that gave purpose to our lives.
Of course, we did not think of how these things were affecting Lisa. Imagine the embarassment. No doubt we eagerly awaited Austin's next call; perversly and happily anticipating some kind of conflict.
With a strange desire and wish to have something happen that was really exciting. Something that wasnt about Lothar or Greenie, or the protests wher Tammy cut off the spoon and fork attached to Cookie's hands. And that one day we found, underneath the sliding door, the tiny toy vegetables that we thought we would never play with again.
These were our simple joys, no wonder something like a unwanted phone call from a 24 year old black man, would inspire such interest, excitment and joy. That, compared to Greenie's sack and Lothar's pinhead -the case of Austin is so vast and incredable.
Even now you cannot imagine the excitment we would have if the Austin case repeated itself.
Of course, it has repeated itself -even more times than Cherish has documented.
The fact that these things still happen I take as God's blessing on us. It still gives a sense of meaning when Lisa announces a fresh case of Austin Syndrome.
